The Blinding Knife — First Three Chapters
by
The mass market paperback of The Black Prism released this week, and in addition to having a nicely reworked map, the paperback also has a sneak peek into the forthcoming second book of The Lightbringer Trilogy, The Blinding Knife.
I didn’t want the people who bought the hardcover to be left out, so I’ve successfully lobbied Orbit to give us the rights to post the first three chapters of The Blinding Knife here. You can also access it under the “Extras” tab from the main page.
(I should note that The Blinding Knife is slated for a September 2012 release, and that these chapters may see significant revisions between now and then. But if you don’t mind seeing scenes that are hot off the presses, and maybe a smidge rough, please click over here.)
Many thanks Brent. I’m glad to know that the book is set to come out next year. After just finishing the excerpts I am in great anticipation of it’s release.
I wasn’t sure I was going to read them, since i usually don’t read excerpts series I’m currently reading, but you convinced me when you said that the chapters might be re-worked in the year to come.
Thanks for the updates and your writing advice!
Excellent Brent, that may entice me to pick up that series. I love the NAT but I didn’t learn of it until the whole series was complete. I picked up the perfect shadow e-book, also nice. But I’m torn on whether to pick up the black prism because I’m so impatient and hate waiting to finish a good story. And without even reading the book, I already know it’s good… Here’s to temptation!
I finished Black Prism literally just minutes ago, thinking: ‘This can’t end like this!’, so first thing I did was reading extra chapters 😀
Now I can only say that September 2012 too far far away and the Blinding Knife can’t come too soon. (thats for not putting any pressure on Brent Weeks :P)
Honestly, great world, great story, great characters (and especially Gavin (the Prism Gavin) who got me charmed through pages and letters), I haven’t enjoyed a book as much in quite a while.
And I always find amusing when Brent Weeks is mentioning those who read all acknowledgements. I do it because it’s much easier to read about those who helped him than to tell myself the book is over and it’ll be a year (a year?!) until the next will come.
Thanks to him for letting us live his fantasies!
Any info updates is great I m eagerly awaiting updates of this book and can not wait to read the nxt chapter still hoping wont be so long for release lol.
Loved the The Black Prism!!!!
Can’t wait for the next installment!!!!!
A year? That’s too long of a wait. I’m going to read these chapters now.. and then I’m going to go sit on the edge of my seat and wait. Don’t worry, I won’t forget, I’ve already blocked this into September next year on my calendar 🙂
