The Way of Shadows: New French Edition

Brent’s French publisher, Bragelonne, is releasing a special collector’s edition of the first Night Angel book, The Way of Shadows. Take a look:

Night Angel

The books are covered in soft imitation leather, rounded spines, and feature creamy white paper. All for just €16.90. The first three books in this special collectors edition series will be published April 15, will be followed by two more books in August.

Update: If you’d like to order a copy, you can find them HERE.

Color Quiz: En Francais

Due to the Gallic genius of Bragelonne (and the generous cooperation of my English-language publisher, Orbit — thank you Alex!), the color quiz that I originally wrote to describe a little bit about the world of The Seven Satrapies and the magic users who inhabit it is now live in French.

Bragelonne has translated and coded anew the quiz here. If you enjoy it, please “like” the Facebook page for both The Black Prism and Bragelonne, and be on the lookout for Le Prisme noir, coming in October!

French Cover Released for The Black Prism/Le Prisme Noir

Dear French fans,

You didn’t think I’d forget about you, did you? As you know, the French covers for my books have always been among my favorite. As you can see below, Bragelonne continues their winning streak with this:

Miguel Coimbra is the talented artist, and you can see more of his work here.

Le Prisme Noir will be released in October, and I have been working even this week on the last, final points of the translation with the talented team at Bragelonne. You can pre-order here.

Au-delà des Ombres

So I realized I never put up the French cover of the third book in The Night Angel Trilogy, Au-delà des Ombres. My bad, because Frederic Perrin’s artwork is amazing.

And if you love this artist’s stuff as much as I do, you can now purchase prints of his work (including the images featured on French The Night Angel Trilogy covers)!  Go here to look at the prints, here to contact him for purchases, and here to see some of his other great work.

Without further ado, here’s that amazing cover:

Paris Book Fair

Courtesy of my amazing French publisher, Editions Bragelonne, I will be appearing this year at the Paris Book Fair from 26-28 March 2010. I will be doing signings on Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th. You can find full details HERE.

I look forward to meeting any of you who can come, and feel great sadness that I only took those two years of highschool French. Zut alors!

Everything’s Big in … France?

Recently got my copies of The Way of Shadows as translated into Dutch and French. I think now I can say, “I’m big in France.” (If only literally.)

Here are shots of the books next to their American counterpart.

How cool is that? It’s still amazing and very weird to think that someone with whom I couldn’t communicate if I met them in real life could read what I’ve poured so much of my life into. So thank you to my translators Peter Cuijpers and Olivier Debernard, and to editors Jürgen Snoeren and Stéphane Marsan of Mynx and Bragelonne respectively.

French Video Goodness

So a buddy stumbled across this. Pretty sure the sophisticated French commentary is identical to the plain English back cover blurb, unless my high school French has completely abandoned me. (I had to make the video tiny to make it fit in this column, so you should definitely expand it to the full screen. It loses a lot when it’s only the size of a postage stamp.)
